A new Maxus vehicle has just hit Philippine shores and it comes in the form of a pickup. The Maxus T60 is the brand’s entry into the competitive pickup truck segment and features a large grille and prominent wheel arches giving the pickup an overall aggressive look.
Not much else is known about the local version of the vehicle but we have a couple of guesses as to what kind of power plant and features it might have here. Thankfully, the Maxus T60 is already on sale in neighboring markets, so we can use their specifications to speculate what could come with the local version.
Over in the Australian market, the Maxus T60 comes with a different name - the LDV T60. We used the LDV T60 to gather a bit of information about the features of the vehicle. For the pickup’s interior, it features a black interior with a beige headliner. The interior of the Maxus vehicle also features a large touchscreen, but the exact specifications for the Philippine version are still unknown. Our best guess is that it could be a 10-inch touchscreen found in the Australian model.
Next up, power. The Maxus T60 in other markets comes with 2.8-liter turbo diesel that produces 136 hp and 360 Nm torque. Not much on paper but there is another engine option that could make it into the local vehicle. The other engine option comes in the form of a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 214 hp and 480 Nm of torque. Transmission options for the pickup range from a 5 or 6-speed manual and a 6-speed Punch automatic.
For safety, the pickup truck comes with a 5-star rating from the Australian NCAP. The high safety rating comes in the form of its six airbags and other passive and active safety features.
What Maxus Philippines confirms, however, is that the T60 will be coming in with three variants a 4x2 MT, 4x2 AT, and a 4x4 AT. Differentiating the three variants at a glance is difficult but a hint can be seen in the headlights. The range-topping variant comes with LED daytime running lights but the lower variants come without the feature. The grille is also a give away to the higher trim variant. The higher trim comes with a chrome grille while the lower variants come with a black grille instead.
While there is no official word yet from Maxus as to when it will hit the market, expect the pickup to launch within the first quarter of 2020. When more information is released we will be sure to update you.
